Tribe: DOGON

Wood dance staff with sickle-like metal blade secured to haft. Carving on the haft at point where the "blade" is secured.

21" tall x .62" wide, blade is 12" long

Age unknown, acquired in 1996 from a trusted African agent. This object was said to be carried with over a shoulder cradling the blade and haft. It's similarity in appearance to a weapon suggests it may have had battle purposes or symbolized martial power.
