Salvador Romero Corner:

Fetish Carver Salvador Romero and Gallery Owner Susanne Waites are seen during a recent visit by Romero to Aboriginals: Art of the First Person.

Cochiti Pueblo fetish carver Salvador Romero.

Romero harvests field stones from the pueblo grounds, choosing those that his eye and heart feel already have the creature embedded in them. His carvings are characteristically rough and impressionistic. They carry his individual artist's perception of the animal in the stone. Aboriginals: Art of the First Person is the exclusive retailer of Salvador Romero's fetish carvings in the southeastern U.S.

Romero was featured in the fall 1999 issue of Native Artists magazine.
