Cochiti Pueblo fetish carver Salvador Romero. Romero harvests field stones from the pueblo grounds, choosing those that his eye and heart feel already have the creature embedded in them. His carvings are characteristically rough and impressionistic. They carry his individual artist's perception of the animal in the stone.
