#KB43 This coiled basket with alternating color bands and blocks of color also has coil-woven rossettes securing the handles to the body of the basket. It was created by Elsie Milindirri of Elcho Island, a small island off the northern Arnhem Land coast, where baskets are used to store and carry food and goods. 9" in diameter x 8½" from base to basket rim, 15" to the top of handle. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as to its Australian Aboriginal origin. US$290.
